Well this thing is older than I am! Made in the 50’s and still working until recently. It came in with no audio and after a few checks I found no output from the rectifier valve. it uses a Mullard EZ41 valve as a full wave rectifier and it looked like that was what has failed, surprisingly an easily available part…good old eBay!
Well the rectifier valve did the job but there was also a lot of work to be done on all the valve bases. Once back together I was impressed that the 60 year old automatic mechanism worked perfectly, dropping the tone arm exactly at the start of the record and lifting off at the end before returning to it’s resting position and turning off…they certainly built stuff properly back then!
