Next on the bench was a Technics cassette deck from the very early 80’s. It wouldn’t play a tape and it turned out to be the rubber reel idler, a bit of a clean up had it as good as new. What a nice machine though, both the capstan and reel motors were direct drive, the only belt in there was for the tape counter!
